Firm Grip Dura-Knit Work Glove Design

Construction

Right off the bat, it’s obvious there’s something very different about Firm Grip’s Dura-Knit design. The back is knit from 100% polyester—the same material found in dry-fit shirts. Between the knit construction and material, it’s no surprise to find that these are highly breathable gloves.

The downside to a knit back is that it’s more likely to catch on abrasive material such as concrete or pavers compared to leather. It’s not an issue on the palm, though.

Second Skin Fit

In general, work gloves range in fit from thin, well-fit latex gloves all the way to bulky ones that give even the smallest of tradesmen or tradeswomen gorilla hands. Firm Grips’s knit construction makes Dura-Knit gloves much more form-fitting to your hands than many of the other gloves we use.

Currently, these gloves only come in Large and Extra Large sizes. However, Mediums will be available on HomeDepot.com for purchase by August 2021.

Dexterity

One key factor when choosing work gloves is dexterity. If we’re working with small fasteners or delicate parts, we don’t want to fumble around or be unable to pick up small objects.

Looking again to the polyester material, it’s not only well-fit, but it’s also much more stretchy than leather gloves, giving us outstanding dexterity and feel.

Seamless Back

Firm Grip uses some 30% fewer seams in these gloves, and that makes a difference in how long you can expect them to last. Seams are a common failure point. Getting rid of some of the ones that have to absorb the most pressure when you close your grip increases overall glove life.

Grip

As for grip, the palm is made from synthetic leather. Between that and the array of raised silicone orange triangles, the gloves provide excellent grip. It feels like those rubber lid helpers Mom used in the kitchen to help her open jars. The big difference is that the silicone-enhanced synthetic leather holds up much better!
