Echo Releases Three Wheeled Trimmers to Attack Weeds Easily and Comfortably

Wheeled string trimmers seem to be all the rage these days (we’re guessing a patent recently expired). We’ve seen models from DR Trimmers and Troy-Bilt, and now Echo has joined in the fun with three models. The Echo line of Wheeled String Trimmers has a little something for both Pros and homeowners, all with the power to shred through dense weeds and tall grasses without having to support the weight of a tool.

Features

The attraction of Echo wheeled trimmers (or anyone else’s for that matter) is you get roughly 5 times the power of a standard handheld string trimmer. That lets you do a lot of work without having to carry around 12 pounds or more of string trimmer. These trimmers still make short work of grasses up against walls and fence lines, but they do it with all the comfort and ease of a tool on wheels. They also work very well for ditches and other areas where soggy grass makes for near-impossible string-trimming.

Unlike your handheld trimmers which max out at around 17-inches, the Echo wheeled trimmers all feature a 24 in. cutting swath. Yes, we know you can blow the guard on your handheld and out-reel a 24-inch cutting swath—but the tool doesn’t come designed for that type of use. Echo uses an ultra-heavy .115″ Cross-Fire trimmer line that it claims increases cutting performance and efficiency. For stability and mobility, you get 16-inch wheels with cast iron glide cups that let you easily glide over any terrain.

Three Models to Choose From

Echo has three different wheeled trimmer models to choose from. The WT-1610 and WT-1610T both feature a 163cc Briggs & Stratton 675 EXi Series engine. The 4-Stroke WT-1610 features an adjustable handle and a 7.5º pivot at the nose to reach further beyond the wheels.

The Tilt model, the WT-1610T, features three tilt settings: 5º, 10º, 13º. It also features two different cutting height settings, 1-7/8″ and 2-3/4″. A collapsible handlebar allows for easy storage and transport in truck beds or trailers.

The self-propelled WT-1610HSP comes with a 160cc Honda engine and 3-speed transmission that ranges between moving at 1 and 2 mph. Like the tilting model, this self-propelled wheeled trimmer features a collapsible handle that makes storage simple.

All of the Echo Wheeled Trimmers feature 10-gauge steel housings to keep out debris. A cutting shield keeps your line length uniform while blocking flying debris. A removable nose piece also gives you easy access to the belt.

The three Echo Wheeled Trimmer models vary in price. You can pick up the WT-1610 for $559.99. The WT-1610T model with the tilting deck retails for $699.99. Finally, the self-propelled WT-1610HSP with Honda engine prices out at $999.99. You can buy any of the three models at The Home Depot.
