DR Power BurnCage Max Review

DR Power BurnCage Max

The DR Power BurnCage Max Burns Debris Faster, Hotter, and Safer

Growing up, one of my favorite chores was lighting up the burn pile with my Dad to get rid of our seasonal tree and shrub clippings. Fast-forward a couple of decades, I’m a homeowner with a steady supply of fallen branches, and I think the DR Power BurnCage Max is just the right tool for the job.

Pros

  • Hold up to 16.28 cubic feet of debris
  • Lightweight, portable design
  • Easy to set up
  • More efficient than a traditional drum burn barrel

Cons

  • Price may be a barrier for some folks

DR Power BurnCage Max Key Features

The BurnCage Max is specifically designed to promote efficient combustion while burning brush and yard waste. The perforated stainless steel design maximizes airflow, so fires light quickly, and burn hotter and more thoroughly. This open design allows the flames to reach temps as high as 1600° F, meaning fewer ashes and leftover debris.

DR Power equips this burn cage with a perforated debris lid to contain any flying ashes and embers. Additionally, they offer an optional ash catcher base for easy cleanup.

The BurnCage Max holds up to 16.28 cubic feet of debris, 118% more than a traditional 55-gallon steel drum. The stainless steel panels resists rust and corrosion, meaning it’ll hold up to the elements and won’t be an eyesore on your property. Additionally, the z-fold design collapses down flat so you can lean against a wall, or hang it on your wall when not in use.

DR Power BurnCage Max Assembly

Assembling the BurnCage Max takes about 15 minutes and requires minimal tool, and I’d definitely recommend a sturdy pair of work gloves. Once out of the package, carefully unfold the panels into a square. Next, feed the hinge pin down through the piano-style corner hinge. This takes a little bit of finesse at the beginning, so take your time and be careful not to bend the pin.

Once the hinge pin if fully seated, attach the foot plates using the included hardware. To make this job easier, I grabbed our trusty Milwaukee M12 Fuel Cordless Ratchet. After you’ve got everything tightened down, you’re ready to set it up on your designated burn site, and light it up! Keep in mind, this thing is a little heavy, so I suggest using the buddy system when moving it from place to place.

DR Power BurnCage Max Price

The Burn Cage Max retails for $599.99, but DR Power currently has it listed at a special sale price of $449.99! The original BurnCage and BurnCage XL retail for $399.99 and $499.99, respectively.
