4-in-1 Functionality

We recently reviewed and liked the Werner Adjustable Pro Work Platform. This gives you similar scaffolding functionality but with many more features geared towards the handyman or DIYer. In fact, you can use the Disston Tools OmniTable in any of four ways: as a portable workbench, as an adjustable scaffold, as a dolly for moving heavier equipment, and as a creeper for wheeling yourself under low workspaces.

It also has a ton of built-in features that help streamline your work in any of those configurations. For instance, the Disston OmniTable features a reversible worktop. On the one side, you have a non-slip surface that keeps your footing secure when using the OmniTable as scaffolding.

On the other side, you have a work surface that includes a built-in protractor, a steel hammering surface, and a groove for easier access to cutting. The Disston OmniTable also features a drill hole to help you avoid drilling into the surface of the OmniTable, while an accessory tray helps you keep all of your bits and fasteners organized and in one place.

Integrated Power Strip

Disston knows that it can be challenging to stay near a wall with a power outlet, so they’ve included a 110V power strip with three outlets. Simply attach an extension cord to the power strip to provide power to up to three tools, chargers, lights, or accessories.

Or, you can fold the legs up under the work surface to allow the table’s wheels to make contact with the ground. This opens the OmniTable up for work as a creeper or as a dolly. Disston has included rope connection points on the side to secure heavier equipment and furniture.

Realistic Professional Use?

When I consider what I would use the Disston Omnitable for on a professional level, it cuts those features in half or so. The biggest help for me is at its full height for a workbench and as a step stool when I need it. The cutting, drilling, and hammering features can be genuinely helpful there. I’ll still need miter saw and table saw stands in addition to carrying it. It does appear to transport easily, though.

But that’s thinking from a fairly limited residential construction perspective. Still, if you consider it from your specific trade, it’s pretty obvious that the Omnitable can’t be everything to everyone.

The biggest winner here is the DIYer, simply because it’s much more feasible to see homeowners making use of more of the functions that it offers. You’re changing your oil one weekend, painting the living room the next, and then moving on build a pergola. It makes a lot of sense for anyone who tackles such a wide variety of projects.

The fact that the table folds up to 4.2 inches thick means it can store easily in a shop, garage, or trailer. With a price tag just under $130, it’s actually very competitive in the field of portable workbenches. With that kind of pricing, it makes sense to give check it out for yourself even if you won’t use all of its functions.
