DeWalt to Debut Portable USB Battery Charger at NECA
DeWalt announced that they’ve got plans to showcase a few new releases at the 2021 National Electrical Contractor’s Association Convention and Trade Show. One of those new releases, the DeWalt Portable USB Battery Charging Kit, looks like the next evolution of the portable charger with a bi-directional high-power USB-C port.
What’s the Big Deal?
Jobsites often lack any available AC power, and your typical battery power supply can be a real day-maker as they can keep your cell phones, devices, and laptops charged up and operational. The DeWalt Portable USB Charging Kit offers the same functionality, using Power Delivery technology to rapidly charge a range of devices using 20V Max and FlexVolt batteries.
It Charges Batteries Too
The DeWalt design evolution revolves around the 100W bi-directional USB-C port. This lets you input or output up to 100W of power to charge your DeWalt batteries or power other devices. Here’s how the math works:
20V (Max) x 5A = 100W
DeWalt has also included a USB-A port on the Portable USB Charging Kit. This lets you charge devices up to 12W using traditional USB cords.
Input/Output Specs
- USB-A Output: 5VDC, 2.4A
- USB-C Port Input/Output 5-20V DC, 5A
- Battery Port Output: 18VDC, 6A
- Battery Port Input: 18VDC, 6A
The DeWalt Portable USB Charging Kit also features a State of Charge Indicator that displays charging status.
