If you’ve used any reference or training material in the construction industry, you’ve likely come across materials authored and produced by Delmar. Delmar is part of Cengage Learning and a leading provider of learning solutions for ongoing career development and education. This week they partnered with DeWALT to launch the DeWALT Mobile Pro app.
This is a brand new mobile app designed to provide calculators and conversion tools (as well as some reference material) for construction professionals (contractors and tradesmen). The free app offers a ton of features and numerous ways to customize the interface based on each user’s trade focus. It’s currently only available for iOS devices (iPads, iPhone, iPod, etc) and has been designed with custom interfaces that match the various screen sizes of each device.
DeWALT Mobile Pro App Features
The DeWALT Mobile Pro app is available as a free download and provides an array of powerful and convenient features for everyday use on the job. It contains a construction calculator for solving complex job site math in the field, and five basic calculations with integrated reference materials to offer help, examples and illustrations.
The app also provides additional high-value functionality including a running history of recent calculations, a customizable list of favorite calculations for quick and easy access to those used most often, and the ability to instantly email calculation results. But it does a lot more as well and is customizable to specific trades – which is where it gets really powerful (and useful).
Wanting to make sure the DeWALT Mobile Pro was beneficial to all construction professionals, the app was designed with a customization option that includes trade-specific calculations and formulas. Now, these aren’t free, but rather “in-app” purchases that extend the usefulness of the base application.
DeWALT Mobile Pro App Add-ons
Once you’ve got the free app installed, the app grants you access to trade-specific add-on that give you literally hundreds of additional calculations and corresponding reference materials unique to a specific trade. To give you some examples, the following add-ons are already available for purchase in the application:
- Business Pack (business management tools) – $4.99
- Carpentry Pack (calculations for rough and finish carpentry) – $9.99
- Concrete Pack (estimates and calculations for slabs, columns, footings, core filling, block, brick, etc) – $9.99
- Construction Math Pack (shape, ft-in, and conversion calculators galore!) – $1.99
- Site Work Pack (calculations for excavation, grading, fill and more) – $4.99
