DeWalt may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of in-ear audio, but the brand is aiming to expand your horizons with a compelling noise-canceling option: Jobsite Pro X2 ANC Wireless Earbuds. While they’re not DeWalt’s first go-around in the audio department, these headphones introduce a design we’ve never seen before in earbuds. I took them for a spin to see what they have to offer and how they compare to other jobsite-focused options.
DeWalt Jobsite Pro X2 Noise-Canceling Earbuds: What They Say
- Active noise cancellation
- Runtime: Up to 10 hours per charge (40 hours with case)
- Dial volume control
- 4 EQ modes
- IP54-rated for water resistance
- Includes multiple ear cushions
The DeWalt Jobsite Pro X2 wireless earbuds feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to block out background noise while you listen. This technology lowers outside noise by up to 38dB with the ANC function enabled for fewer distractions.
The earbuds get up to 10 hours of runtime per charge, and up to 40 hours with with a fully charged charging case.
Four EQ modes allow you to customize the sound, with settings for music, podcasts, calls, and Bass Boost. These headphones also feature a patent-pending volume dial on each earbud, allowing you to control your sound output with a simple twist—even with gloves on.
Finally, the case and earbuds are IP54-rated to stand up against tough jobsite conditions, including water, sweat, and dust.
DeWalt Jobsite Pro X2 Noise-Canceling Earbuds: What We Say
I like listening to music while I work, and I will be the first one to tell you that my music taste is all over the place. When I had DeWalt’s noise-canceling earbuds on, I was able to find the most well-rounded sound quality for my preferences using the Bass Boost mode. I found this to be true no matter the genre, having tested them with rock, pop, hip-hop, and more.
EQ and Sound Modes
The headphones came set to Music mode, which was a little too heavy on the treble for my liking. Toggling between the 4 EQ modes is as simple as long-pressing the left button until you reach your desired mode.
Along with those settings, you can also choose between standard, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and Transparency modes, which you can toggle by long-pressing the right button.
I found the noise cancellation to be impressive—while it didn’t block outside noise out entirely, it was greatly reduced. On the other hand, Transparency Mode amplifies outside noise, giving you a better sense of your surroundings.
Like many earbuds, an in-ear smart sensor also detects when you remove the earbud from your ear, pausing your media so you don’t miss a beat.
Volume Dial
What I like about these headphones, in particular, is the volume dials present on each earbud. It’s a unique design that makes it easy to adjust your volume on the fly. While they don’t control the sound output of each individual side, it was convenient to be able to control my volume no matter which hand happened to be free at the time.
The volume dials turn smoothly, and their large size makes them easy to control, even for those who need to wear gloves on the job.
Fit and Comfort
My ears are on the small side, so in-ear headphones aren’t usually my first choice when it comes to listening to music or podcasts. That said, after some initial growing pains, I didn’t notice any discomfort wearing the DeWalt Jobsite Pro X2 earbuds.
Like many in-ear headphones, they come with a variety of tips and ear cushions so you can change out your fit and find the most comfortable set for your ears. There are three silicone cushions (S, M, and L) and two memory foam cushions (S and M).
Charging Case
The case itself also offers a nice level of innovation. I like the slide-style opening/closing mechanism, which latches securely to lock out dust and moisture when it’s closed. A carabiner loop also serves as a mini handle to open and close the headphone case.
When opening the case, a battery indicator shows its charge level. Similarly, each earbud features a mini LED to indicate the battery levels and connection status. When powered on and connected to a Bluetooth device, the earbuds’ LEDs will light up red and blue.
DeWalt Jobsite Pro X2 Noise-Canceling Earbuds Price
These earbuds retail for $129 and include the charging case, 3-foot USB-C charging cord, and several tips and accessories.
The Bottom Line
While many modern headphones are upping the ante when it comes to sound quality, DeWalt’s newest wireless earbuds are taking things a step further for durability. Between the active noise cancellation, customizable listening modes, and innovative volume dials, these headphones are worth considering if you’re looking for a better listening experience on the jobsite.
