We were pretty impressed with the DeWalt 8V gyroscopic screwdriver (DCF680) they debuted last summer. This week, however, DeWalt dropped a bomb of a tool on electricians with a new modified version of that tool. This time it’s the DeWalt 8V gyroscopic screwdriver with conduit reamer (DCF681). The tool is made for electricians who need to drive a lot of screws but also want a quick and easy way to ream conduit—without killing their wrists and arms in the process. We’ve reviewed power conduit reamers in the past, but those were accessories made for cordless drills. This is an integrated solution and it really makes a lot of sense.
The new DeWalt 8V gyroscopic screwdriver has sensors in the DCF681 that let you turn your wrist to tighten or loosen/remove screws. The additional functionality of the 8V Gyroscopic Screwdriver is that it has an integrated conduit reamer built right into the head. It will deburr 1/2″, 3/4″, and even 1″ EMT conduit.
8V DeWalt Battery Power
Like the DeWalt 4V screwdriver, the DCF681 has a variable-speed control and is powered by an 8V Max lithium-ion battery. An LED light illuminates the work area just in front of the bit and a remaining charge display is located on top of the tool so you know whether or not you need to put in a fresh battery before starting your work. An integrated magnetic 1/4″ hex bit holder accepts standard bits. and the bit fits right inside the conduit when you need to ream it.
DeWalt 8V Gyroscopic Screwdriver Pricing
The tool will initially be sold as the DCF681N2 kit which comes with two 8V Max batteries, a charger, and a soft bag. Retail on this tool ranges between $79-$143 depending on what version you pick up.
