Keep Your Vehicle Clean and Tires Full with the Craftsman V20 Vacuum/Inflator
Do you find yourself pulling into the gas station every time you need to top off your tires or vacuum out your vehicle’s floorboards? Next time, skip the line by picking up a portable inflator or vacuum! Craftsman is making the case for the V20 3-in-1 Cordless Vacuum/Inflator, which combines three useful functions into one compact unit. I’m taking an in-depth look at this tool to help you decide if it’s the right solution for you.
Craftsman V20 3-in-1 Vacuum/Inflator Performance
- Model: Craftsman CMXPTXA2001
- Power source: Craftsman V20 battery or 12V socket
- Max pressure: 150 PSI
- 3 modes: vacuum, blow, and inflate
- Auto-shut-off in inflate mode
- 0.2-gallon dirt tank
The Craftsman CMXPTXA2001 is a 3-in-1 tool designed for vacuuming, blowing, and inflating applications with a focus on vehicles. For power, you can either use a V20 battery (sold separately) or hook up the included cord to the 12V port in your vehicle.
Inflating
I tested out the inflating capabilities on my car’s tires. Since we’ve had some cooler weather recently, a few of my tires were in need of a top-off. Using a 4.0Ah battery, the CMXPTXA2001 took my tire from around 27 PSI to 34 PSI in right around 30 seconds. Compared to other inflators we’ve reviewed, that’s quick.
You can set your target pressure level using the + or – buttons, holding them down for quicker toggling. Like many cordless inflators, Craftsman’s 3-in-1 also has an auto-shut-off function, stopping airflow when it reaches the pressure level you set.
Additionally, several tips are included to help with a variety of inflating applications. The inflator hose comes fitted for car tires, but there are also adapters for bicycles, sports balls, and inflatable pool toys.
Vacuuming/Blowing
This tool is also equipped with a vacuum hose that’s helpful for tidying small spaces. It features a flexible 2-foot hose and an onboard crevice attachment with an integrated brush attachment you can access by pushing it forward.
Since Craftsman prioritizes a compact design with this tool, the hose is shorter than we see on many other cordless shop vacuums. Its dirt tank is also on the small side, just 0.2 gallons. Considering how easy it is to move around your vehicle, those are reasonable trade-offs.
I found it easy to maneuver the hose around my car’s floorboards, and it made quick work of accumulated dirt, dry grass, and pet hair.
Note that this vacuum is for dry debris only, so if you’re looking for something to pick up wet messes, it’s better to opt for a true shop vac.
What’s Included?

- Weight: 6.4 pounds
- Hose length: 29 inches
- LED light

As I mentioned above, it’s clear that Craftsman focused on a compact form factor with this tool—perfect for keeping in your car’s trunk or under the bench seat in your truck. It’s relatively lightweight at 6.4 pounds bare, and a carrying handle on the top makes it easy to transport between work areas.
One thing I found particularly convenient with this tool is the onboard storage. Everything from the vacuum hose to the inflator hose and nozzles, and even the 12V cord, has its own storage location on this tool. It’s a seemingly small detail, but for those with limited storage space, it’s a real benefit.
Craftsman V20 3-in-1 Vacuum/Inflator Price
This tool retails for $79 as a bare tool. There are currently no kit options available, so be sure to pick up a Craftsman V20 battery if you don’t already have one. Craftsman backs the CMXPTXA2001 with a 1-year warranty.
Final Thoughts
Although it isn’t the most powerful car inflator, vacuum, or blower we’ve tested, the Craftsman 3-in-1 Vacuum/Inflator’s value is in its ablity to perform each function effectively. Thanks to its onboard storage and abunadance of included nozzles, you’ll have what you need, when you need it. If you’re already on Craftsman’s V20 battery platform, or you’re looking for something you can plug into your vehicle’s 12V outlet, this tool is is the daily driver and road trip companion you need.
