Bosch Profactor Hammer Drill: The Big Deal

Bosch Hammer Drill

Bosch designed its ProFactor GSB18V-1330C hammer drill to tackle tough drilling and driving applications. Particularly, the company claims it excels when driving large, straight holes in materials like concrete or masonry. The Bosch ProFactor system promises corded (or better) performance through the use of its Biturbo brushless motor and Core18V battery.

Speaking of the tool’s brushless motor, it also delivers up to 1,330 in-lbs of max torque. Additionally, you have two options for speed settings: high-speed and high-torque. With the high-speed setting, you can get up to 2,200 RPM. On the other hand, the high-torque setting will deliver up to 550 RPM while raising the power output.

The tool’s 25 clutch settings ensure you get the right amount of torque for the job at hand. Bosch continues to feature their excellent Kickback control to help reduce the risk of injury from a sudden rotational bind-up. Bosch was, to our recollection, first to market with this feature on their cordless hammer drills.

Along with the GSB18V-1330C hammer drill, Bosch is listing the GSR18V-1330CN drill, which has the same features, just without the hammering mechanism.

Additional Features

  • Connectivity to mobile devices with the Bosch Toolbox App to customize settings
  • LED light with tool status feedback
  • Long belt clip for a more secure hold
  • Durable, all-metal chuck
  • Electronic angle detection
  • Rapid mode selector to switch from hammer mode to drilling/driving mode

Pricing

The Bosch GSB18V-1330CN ProFactor hammer drill retails for $199 for the bare tool. There is also a drill/driver without the hammering mechanism (GSR18V-1330CN) that is $10 cheaper, at $189. We recommend paying the extra amount for the hammer drill since it performs the same function as the normal drill, plus you have it on hand when you need to drill into brick, block, or concrete.
