Bosch GSR12V-300 12V Brushless Drill Drop Weight, Improves Power

The new Bosch GSR12V-300 12V brushless drill driver makes some improvements over the PS32. The PS32 is a solid compact option in its own right, taking 1st place overall in our 12V drill shootout with a balance of compact design, performance, and price. So how do you make it better? More compact? Higher performance? Yes.

Size and Weight

Size and weight are two areas where we see improvement for the Bosch GSR12V-300 brushless drill driver. That’s saying something considering it was already the most compact drill in our testing.

The feature set remains largely unchanged. Starting from the bottom, the handle keeps the same general shape and adds some texture to the overmold to improve your grip.

Performance Specs

Some of the biggest changes are on the performance side in both speed and power. Low speed gains 60 RPM and now reaches 460 RPM while high speed picks up 450 RPM to hit 1750 RPM.

For torque, you’re looking at 300 in-lbs—a massive 67% increase over the 180 in-lbs in the PS32.

Price

The PS32 was already a pretty solid value at $119.99 bare and $159.99 with a pair of 2.0Ah batteries. What makes the new model even better is that you get the upgrades for no extra cost. The kit with two 2.0Ah batteries is $159.00 (a $0.99 drop if you’re keeping score).

The difference between the two kits is that the Bosch GSR12V-300 comes with a more minimalist charger.

Parting Thoughts

We’re still working on some testing with this new model and will have more results to share later. For now, the size and weight differences are significant enough that you really can tell just by looking at the two drills side by side and picking them up. For what was already a class-leading compact drill driver, that’s an impressive gain for the Bosch GSR12V-300 right out of the gate.
