Bosch has designed the 6-Bay Battery Charger to get you back to work as quickly as possible by delivering fast and efficient 2-cycle charging. That provides an initial faster charge followed by a slower top-off to complete the job. To accomplish this, it has an 8-amp charging current, which is four times the charging current of one of their standard chargers.
How 2-Cycle Charging Works
As we mentioned above, 2-cycle charging works by providing two levels (or cycles) of charge. The first cycle charges the battery to about 80% full in a relatively short amount of time. What We Think
Clearly if you run a crew or simply a bunch of Bosch cordless power tools, a multi-bay charger helps. To our knowledge, Bosch has only had single-bay chargers until now. This presents a significant productivity increase since you don’t often need to multi-charge batteries overnight but simply need a way to quickly get everything lined up for the next day. If, however, you still need multiple batteries charging simultaneously, go with multiple standard chargers (or Bosch Turbo chargers).
Like the Milwaukee Six-Pack sequential charger, the Bosch GAL18V6-80 still only charges one battery at a time. We’d love to eventually see something more like the Milwaukee dual-bay Rapid Charger or the Milwaukee 6-bay Rapid Charger Station that charges up to two packs at once.
