We’re teaming up with Bosch to walk you through an exciting expansion of their 18V lineup: cordless nailers and staplers. Not only is this new territory for Bosch’s cordless system, but the development team also designed new features that make these tools stand out from the crowd.
What’s New and Different?
After getting these tools in our hands, it was clear that Bosch didn’t set out to create a series of cordless nailers copying every other model on the market. Several noteworthy features and performance characteristics can genuinely boost your experience on the job.
One-Hand Activation
Bosch’s one-hand activation design is something we haven’t seen on any other cordless nailer. Normally, you need two hands to activate the tool; one to press the button and the other to hold the tool.
Bosch’s design puts the activation switch above the trigger, similar to where you find the forward/reverse switch on a drill. Accessible with the tool in either your right or left hand, you can activate the nailer as you pick it up and begin fastening in one motion. A second press deactivates the nailer. It’s easy to use and becomes very natural after just a few minutes of use.
Helpful User Interface
The control panel holds several helpful features. The one you’re likely to use most often is the single fire/bump fire switch. Like most cordless nailers, simply press the button to switch modes.
What’s different is the light bar that quickly informs you of the tool’s status. There are indicators for low battery, errors, and maintenance reminders. A quick check of the icons lets you know whether you need to charge the battery, perform regular maintenance, or get major maintenance from a Bosch service center.
When an unexpected error occurs, press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds to get the nailer ready to fire again.
Indictor Light | Reason |
---|---|
Continuous Green | Ready for use |
Continuous Yellow | Battery is below 20% Regular service due Major service due |
Continuous Red | Battery pack or tool is too hot Internal error |
Blinking Red | Incorrect sequential firing order Trigger not pressed within 5 seconds |
Low Recoil
Bosch’s nailers and stapler all benefit from low-recoil firing characteristics. When you shoot a nail into your workpiece, you don’t get that bounce that can accidentally bump-fire an extra nail or damage the material by jamming the tip in.
Wide-View Contact Tips
For the 15 and 16-gauge finish nailers, wide-view contact tips improve your line of sight to the nailing point. Working with the LED lights, the tip design and shadow combination do an excellent job of helping you guide the nail exactly where you want to place it.
AMPShare
Bosch is part of the AMPShare battery system. It’s a collaboration of more than 30 cordless power tool brands that can operate using Bosch 18V batteries. When you buy into Bosch’s 18V battery platform, you’re opening up access to cordless tools from Fein, Titan, Wagner, and many more.
Features Pros Demand
Stand-out features are great, but what about more common things that make the job easier? Not to worry, Bosch included the most important features Pros demand on their cordless nailers.
Brushless Motor
A brushless motor operates the flywheel mechanism to drive each nail. By going with a brushless design, these cordless nailers can sink nails into hardwood with the power to fully replace your pneumatic models.
Brushless motors also offer significantly better efficiency to go along with that power. You’ll be able to use smaller batteries to reduce the overall working weight while still enjoying all-day runtime for most finish applications.
Easy Depth Adjustment
Adjusting the depth of drive is quick and easy, thanks to a thumbwheel on the side of the housing. Unlike some designs we’ve used that can be sticky and require two fingers to turn, Bosch’s spins with much less resistance. Plus, a drive depth indicator in front of the wheel helps you gauge your adjustments and dial in the right setting.
Tool-free Jam Clearance
If a nail jams, you won’t have to look for a hex wrench to open the nose section and dig it out. Simply flip the latch cover forward and lift it up to access the top of the magazine. Once you free the offending nail and close the latch, you can be back to work in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.
Dry Fire Lockout
The dry fire lockout kicks in once the nailer has 5 fasteners remaining in the magazine, helping avoid increased wear on the drive system and unnecessary downtime.
Complete System Support
Along with the cordless nailers and staplers Bosch is launching, they have the accessories you need as well. There’s a full range of nails and staples to match the job, eliminating compatibility guesswork and ensuring you’re using quality fasteners.

Final Thoughts
Bosch’s design team put some serious thought into making a series of cordless nailers with features that stand out from the competition by making you more efficient and offering you a better experience. Add brushless performance with the muscle to master hardwoods into the equation, and you have the solution to say goodbye to your compressor and hoses.
