Bosch 18V Brushless Cordless Planer

Bosch Grows its AmpShare Battery Platform with a New 18V Planer

If you’re looking for a planer in Bosch’s battery-powered lineup, your options have thus far been limited to a 12V model. That is, until now. I’m looking at the new Bosch 18V cordless planer (GHO18V-26N) to see what differences it has from the brand’s 12V and corded models.

Bosch 18V Cordless Planer Performance

Bosch 18V Cordless Planer
  • Model: Bosch GHO18V-26N
  • Max speed: 13,600 RPM
  • Planing depth: 0 – 3/32-inch
  • Planing width: 0 – 3-1/4-inch
  • Variable speed
  • Brushless motor

The Bosch GHO18V-26N is the brand’s first cordless planer on the AmpShare 18V battery platform. Its brushless motor achieves up to 13,600 RPM for power and efficiency.

Bosch’s corded PL2632 planer reaches speeds of 16,500 RPM, meaning the new model has a lower top speed. However, the trade-off is a cordless design that lets you work untethered. It also features a variable speed trigger, a functionality that is not present in the corded iteration.

Additionally, the GHO18V-26N features a 28-position depth adjustment knob that lets you set your planing depth from 0 inches to 3/32-inch (2.6mm). It also has a planing width of 3-1/4 inches.

Bosch 18V Cordless Planer Design

  • Dimensions (LxWxH): 11.4 x 6 x 7.3 inches
  • Weight: 5.4 pounds
  • Dual shaving exhaust ports
  • Uniform aluminum base plate
  • Onboard blade storage
  • Easy blade change

Turning to design, the most obvious change between this new planer is that it’s cordless. As a result, it shaves off almost a full pound compared to the corded model, weighing 5.4 pounds (bare tool weight).

There are a few features that Bosch carried over into this model, including the dual exhaust ports, which give you the flexibility to choose where to direct the wood shavings. You can connect the included dust bag or a vacuum hose to keep your work area clear of dust.

This model also features onboard storage that lets you carry up to two additional blades. When it comes time to change the blade, it’s a simple plug-and-play process, with no need for extra alignment.

Additional Features

  • Trigger lock-off
  • Battery indicator light
  • Compatible with all AmpShare 18V batteries

Bosch 18V Cordless Planer Price
