Makita recently added two new power cutters to the roster. The smaller of the two, the GEC03, is the brand’s first 40V power cutter. It features a brushless motor that delivers speeds of up to 6600 RPM. With a max cutting capacity of 3 1/2 inches, you can cut through masonry and metal materials for a variety of applications. To keep dust at a minimum when cutting concrete, it also has a water flow adjustment knob that continuously feeds water to the blade. Plus, the GEC03 features an electric brake that stops the cutting wheel in under 2 seconds, allowing for quick repositioning.

Makita 18V LXT Cordless Cut-Out Saw XDS01

The XDS01 is the latest cut-out tool in Makita’s 18V lineup. Unlike the standard drywall cut-out tool design, it uses a more traditional saw blade that cuts into your material instead of carving it out. Makita tells us it’s ideal for drywall and plywood applications, with a maximum blade depth of 1 3/16-inch in drywall and 9/16-inch in wood. A 1/4-inch stroke length also helps prevent damage to objects behind the surface of walls, like wires and pipes.
