Turn Snow Days into Go Days with These Gas-Replacing Snow Blowers
Snow season is right around the corner, and there’s no time like the present to shift from gas to a battery-powered snow blower. Several brands have the power to match or exceed the performance of gas models, and there are even 2-stage snow blowers available that use lithium-ion batteries for power.
So without further delay, let’s countdown the top 6 battery-powered snow blowers that got my attention heading into the winter of 2024/2025.
6. Skil PWRCore 40 Single-Stage Snow Blower SB2001C-10
- Single-stage
- 20-inch clearing width
- 10.5-inch intake
- 30-foot throw with 180° chute rotation
- Rubber-tipped steel auger
- Clears up to 6 parking spaces per charge
- LED headlights
Kicking off the list, Skil’s PWRCore 40 snow blower is a single-stage model that’s appealing if you’re looking for a lightweight model. With the battery, it’s well under 40 pounds, making it easy to get in and out and maneuver.
Using a single battery, this model is best for homeowners with a relatively small area to clear and snowfall that tends to be 10 inches or less.
Skil’s PWRCore 40 lineup includes a wide range of lawn care tools, so you can use the same batteries to keep your lawn and landscape looking good all year long.
Price: $349 bare tool, $449 kit with a 6.0Ah battery
5. DeWalt 60V Max Single Stage Snow Blower DCSNP2142
- Single-stage
- 21-inch clearing width
- 13-inch intake
- 40-foot throw with 190° chute rotation
- 7-inch steel auger
- Clears up to 16 parking spaces per charge
- LED headlights
DeWalt isn’t a name I normally associate with snow blowers, but the parent company owns MTD, which includes Cub Cadet, and they make excellent snow blowers for some of the toughest conditions. So, DeWalt has some quality DNA to help in their development.
So far, feedback on this model has been very positive, making it a compelling option for areas that normally see a foot or less of snow with small to medium-sized areas to clear.
The 60V Max batteries in the kit work with both 60V Max and 20V Max tools, so you’re on a platform that can last you through the entire year for your lawn care and power tool needs.
Price: $699 bare, $999 kit with two 12.0Ah batteries
4. Ryobi 40V HP Brushless Two-Stage Snow Blower RY40870
- Two-stage self-propelled
- 24-inch clearing width
- 21-inch intake
- 55-foot throw with 180° chute rotation
- Steel auger
- Clears up to 31 parking spaces per charge
- LED headlights
Ryobi has a couple of two-stage snow blowers on its 40V system, and the RY40870 is the stronger of the two. It also has a slightly better feature set that includes four active battery ports.
Though it doesn’t have the best runtime on our list, it is generous. Combined with the power to compete against 252cc gas models, it’s one of the strongest battery-powered models available for residential use. Like the other two-stage models that made our list, it can handle wet, heavy snow, and this model can tackle depths around the 20-inch range.
In addition to this high-performance snow blower, Ryobi’s 40V lineup has an outstanding group of compatible OPE tools to cover all your lawn care and landscaping needs. There’s also a new line of 80V riding and zero-turn mowers for those of you with larger properties to maintain.

3. Toro 60V Two-Stage Self-Propelled Snow Blower 39926
- Two-stage self-propelled
- 26-inch clearing width
- 20-inch intake
- 45-foot throw with 200° chute rotation
- 11-inch steel auger
- Clears up to 30 parking spaces per charge
- LED headlights
- Hand warmers
Toro is a deep-running brand when it comes to snow blowers, with extensive lines for both gas and battery-powered models. In fact, they were one of the the first to have multiple two-stage battery models.
The larger 26-inch model is built on the foundation of the gas model, making it one of the most robust, durable builds you’ll find that runs on battery power. Using a pair of 60V batteries, it hits its stride when there’s a foot of snow and is useful up to 18 or a little more. Plus, it handles heavy, wet snow and covers a larger area than most of its electric competition.
Once the winter is over, Toro’s 60V lawn care tools are excellent for a wide range of lawn sizes. I have zero hesitation recommending that line for your year-round lawn care needs, including those of you who demand a high-quality finish.

Pros have an excellent option for a battery-powered snow blower thanks to the Greenworks Commercial 82V system. Build with the durability Pros need for the high hours they put on their machines, this is a quality replacement for a gas two-stage model that includes a zero-turn self-propelled drive that boost your working efficiency.

EGO tops our list as the best battery-powered snow blower this year thanks to its outstanding performance, greater capacity, and more complete feature set than the competition.
Among residential models, EGO has the best runtime on its kitted batteries. It covers up to 32 car spaces (~ 8 four-car driveways) and has a 28-inch clearing width that speeds up clearing chores. Like Ryobi and Toro, it can also handle snow depths up to 18+ inches.

Battery-Powered Snow Blower Tips
- Store and charge your batteries indoors. They’ll perform better with longer runtime by starting warm.
- Supplement your primary snow blower with a battery-powered snow shovel. They’re great for light snowfalls and smaller areas that are a pain to maneuver your snow blower on.
- Keep replacement shear pins and skid shoes on hand in case you need them in a pinch.
- When storing your snow blower after the season, use a cover to keep dust and debris from piling up.
Battery-Powered Snow Blower Advantages
- Low to no required maintenance
- Much quieter than gas—quiet enough to clear snow early in the morning while others are asleep
- No fuel or oil to store or mix
- No emissions, so go ahead and get it warmed up in the garage
- No extension cords to manage
Battery-Powered Snow Blower Disadvantages
- Not as powerful as the strongest gas models (yet)
- No 3-stage models available (yet)
- More expensive than gas models with comparable power
- Less likely to have local service if you need it
- Batteries recharge slower than refilling a gas tank
