Anker Solix EverFrost 2 Battery-Powered Cooler Review

Anker EverFrost 2 Improves on the Battery-Powered Cooler Formula

Back in 2023, I reviewed Anker’s first battery-powered cooler. Since then, it’s been an invaluable addition to any party, camping day, or road trip with my family. When Anker announced the EverFrost 2 battery-powered cooler, I knew I wanted to take it for a spin to see how it compares to the previous iteration. I’ll walk you through everything you need to know if you’re planning on trading out your old icebox for this battery-powered model.

Pros

  • Quick cooling time
  • Multiple ways to recharge
  • Longer runtime than previous model
  • Design and quality-of-life upgrades

Cons

  • More expensive than traditional cooling solutions

Anker EverFrost 2 Battery-Powered Cooler Performance

  • Model: Anker Solix EverFrost 2
  • Temperature range: -4°F to 68°F
  • Power source: 288Wh detachable battery
  • Runtime: up to 52 hours (1 battery); up to 104 hours (2 batteries)
  • Cooling time: 15 minutes (77°F to 32°F)

The Anker EverFrost 2 cooler is powered by an included 288Wh detachable battery. You can set your temperature between -4°F to 68°F, allowing for both freezing and chilling.

With a single battery, this cooler has a runtime of up to 52 hours. Adding a second battery brings your runtime up to a whopping 104 hours.

The EverFrost 2 cooler features FrostFlow Air-Cooled Refrigeration technology, which provides up to 30% faster cooling times than traditional coolers. The fans inside the cooler operate in tandem with the compressor for ideal levels of airflow, cooling the inner walls and the cooler contents at the same time.

This new technology leads to cooling times from 77°F to 32°F in as fast as 15 minutes in Max mode, or 18 minutes in Eco mode.

Available Models

There are three models available for the EverFrost 2 cooler: a 23L model, a 40L model, and a 58L model. The largest (58L) cooler features a dual-zone design, letting you assign different temperatures to each section for simultaneous freezing and cooling.

Battery and Charging

This cooler comes with one 288Wh battery. Unlike the previous model, the EverFrost 2 contains two battery slots, letting you double your runtime if you upgrade to a second battery.

If you opt for just a single battery, the leftover slot can be used to store small accessories, such as the charging cords that come with the cooler. An accessory tray is included that fits into the battery slot.

You can recharge the batteries in four different ways: AC, DC, 12V, and solar. Each battery features a USB-A port, a USB-C port, a power button, and an LED charge indicator. In addition to powering the cooler, the battery also acts as a power bank, letting you charge your device on the go.

Anker EverFrost 2 Battery-Powered Cooler Design Notes

  • 6-inch wheels
  • Ingress protection: IPX3 (waterproof)
  • Folding tray doubles as a handle
  • US and metric rulers on cooler top
  • Soft-close design

At first glance, the EverFrost 2 cooler may be reminiscent of Anker’s first-generation model. However, if you look deeper, you’ll notice several design improvements over the previous iteration.

As I mentioned, the biggest difference is the battery situation. The last model was powered by a larger 299Wh battery, so it only had room for one battery at a time. The dual-slot battery design in the EverFrost 2 cooler is a welcome change, even allowing for extra accessory storage for single-battery users.

A small but mighty difference between the last EverFrost model and the new one is the control panel. The buttons on this model feel more robust, and the digital display has a higher resolution for easy visibility. You can even set your screen brightness to account for the sun if you’re using the cooler outdoors.

Anker also carried over the fold-down tray that doubles as a handle. This feature makes it extremely easy to transport the cooler around using its two 6-inch wheels. When you’re not on the move, the tray has an inner bar that lets it sit flat, allowing for extra surface area for prep or storage.

Additionally, I noticed a soft-close design on the cooler lid that latches automatically. I am used to giving the lid a solid push to ensure a good seal on the original EverFrost model, so this was a design aspect that I appreciated.

There are also two rulers on the lid—a metric (40cm) line on the back of the lid and a standard (16-inch) line on the front. You shouldn’t have any excuses for keeping undersized trout on your next fishing adventure.

On the front of the cooler, there’s a bottle opener for easy access. For those of us who drink real beer (AKA not the kind with a twist-off cap), we can start enjoying the evening while we’re waiting for the fire to be ready for those aforementioned trout.

Finally, this cooler features an IPX3 rating, meaning it’s waterproof to splashes at angles up to 60°. If you’re caught in some sudden rain (like the kind that happens every day in the Florida summer), you don’t have to worry about water damage as long as the charge port cover is sealed.

Final Thoughts

In the almost 2 years between models, it’s clear Anker put a lot of thought into how it could improve upon their battery-powered cooler formula. Although I am well-versed in using the first-generation model, the technology and design upgrades make the Everfrost 2 feel like a brand-new concept. If you’re tired of making convenience store ice runs, consider bringing the Anker EverFrost 2 cooler along on your next adventure.
