Let’s Talk Power
Ingersoll Rand tells us that the 20V High-Torque Impact Wrench showcases one of the best in class power-to-weight ratios. So how do they claim this?
The W7152 features a powerful brushless motor and an impact mechanism that they’ve finely-tuned. This results in 1000 ft-lbs of fastening torque and up to 1500 ft-lbs of breakaway torque.
But, it’s not all raw power and no finesse. The Ingersoll Rand High-Torque Impact Wrench features the IQV Power Control System. This provides 4 modes: Full Power, Half Power, Wrench Tight, and Hand Tight. The variable speed trigger gives even more control. As the brand says, “from axle nuts to oil pans, flange bolts to pre-torque joints, there’s no need to switch tools.”
Direction | Mode | No-Load Speed | Auto Shut-Off | Max Torque |
---|---|---|---|---|
Forward | Hand-Tight | 600 RPM | Yes | 4-10 ft-lbs |
Forward | Wrench-Tight | 1,000 RPM | Yes | 35-110 ft-lbs |
Forward | Half-Power | 0-1,450 RPM | No | 530 ft-lbs |
Forward | Max-Power | 0-1,900 RPM | No | 1,000 ft-lbs |
Reverse | All | 0-1,900 RPM | No | 1,500 ft-lbs |
Our Thoughts
Lots of companies make high-torque impact wrenches, but most folks don’t regularly require 1,000 ft-lbs of torque. In this case, however, IR made the tool extremely versatile by including multiple power modes and designing it with a 1/2-inch anvil.
This design element makes it accessible for both the serious DIYer audience and our friends in the heavy-duty automotive industries. It provides enough power to release frozen nuts and bolts, conduct fleet truck maintenance, and is ideal for industrial and MRO settings.
