Craftsman Ramps Up Power on 20V Recip Saw
Hitting the Craftsman V20 line comes the brushless Reciprocating Saw. With the addition of a brushless motor, Craftsman tells us that the new recip saw provides 75% more power than the last model, the brushed CMCS300B.
Key Features
In practical terms, that 75% increase in brushless, 20V power gets you a max speed of 3,200 strokes per minute. Of course, for your delicate recip saw projects that require a softer touch, the CMCS350B features a Low speed setting as well. A variable speed trigger gives you some added control over your cuts, whether in High or Low.
You don’t get orbital mode on this saw, however. That will make it a tad slower when dealing with demo work. It won’t hinder your speed on most metal or PVC cutting—where we typically leave that mode off.
Additionally, the Craftsman V20 Reciprocating Saw features a tool-free blade release. This provides you with quick, burn-free blade ejects when swapping out blades.
We like the rubber overmold used on the Craftsman V20 Reciprocating Saw—we’ve learned to expect this in most newer tools. It provides a contoured grip to help soften some of the vibrations. This tool also features a rather compact design for a full-size tool, letting you work more easily in tighter spaces. Finally, an integrated LED work light lets you see what you’re doing in those dimmer spots.
You can pick up the new and improved Craftsman V20 Reciprocating Saw either online or from your local Lowe’s. It retails for $129 and comes with Craftsman’s 3-year warranty.
