Stanley Black & Decker has announced the recall of around 211,000 of their wooden handle nailing hammers. According to an announcement made by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the molded grip on the handle of the hammer can come loose and poses an injury threat.
These recalled wood-handled hammers were sold exclusively at Walmart stores between July 2018 through August 2019. They have a metal head and a natural wood handle with a black over-molded grip.
The name “Stanley” is printed down both the side of the handle in black and on the steel hammer head. The purchase price of the Stanley 16 oz. wooden handle nailing hammer was around $6.
To date, there have been no reported injuries on account of this hammer, though there has been one reported case of the hammer’s handle coming loose. If you own one of the Stanley Wood Handle Hammers, you’re advised to discontinue use immediately and return it to Walmart for a full refund in the form of a gift card.

Sure, it’s a $6 Wal-Mart hammer, but they’ve sold more than 200,000 of them and the potential injury is apparently more than just banging your thumb.
