In 2014, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) announced that they will be co-locating the International Builders Show (IBS) and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas starting next year in February 2014. The two Expos continue to run independently. Both take place simultaneously at either the Las Vegas Convention Center or the Orlando Convention Center.
The idea of combining IBS and KBIS came about after desiring to foster a “Design and Construction Week”. This lets manufacturers introduce new ideas, products, and technologies involved in home design, building, and remodeling.
International Builders Show and KBIS Combine
The new co-located trade show events will still see each show occupying a separate hall. Some brands exhibit in both shows. The dual event means some kitchen and bath brands need to choose whether to exhibit in either the KBIS or IBS hall. Both organizations seem to be making that an easy call for manufacturers. Additionally, one single pass will allow attendees access to both shows. Both the NKBA and NAHB will continue to produce separate educational programming and special events.
Traditionally, the NAHB’s IBS has been the largest annual light construction show in the world. Conversely, KBIS serves as the largest event in North America focused on the kitchen and bath segment.
Combining IBS and KBIS PLUS One More…
In 2015, the new Design and Construction Week added SURFACES and StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The World Floor Covering Association sponsors SURFACES. As the largest floor-covering industry event in North America, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas is the only show in North America solely focused on the natural stone industry. Shuttle buses run between the convention centers to allow approximately 25,000 additional attendees to tour all three exhibits.
