We don’t get the opportunity to talk much about the tool trucks, but these guys help keep shops and garages running so they’re not running around or waiting on tools. But how do these brands compare to mainstream names like Makita and Milwaukee? Take the MAC Tools 20V Max High-Torque Impact Wrench as an example. It’s 1200 foot-pounds of nut busting torque is right up there with the top half of the class.
Features like a brushless motor, variable speed trigger, and rubber overmold are also familiar terms for tool enthusiasts and Pro users. Take a look at what MAC Tools tells us about their newest cordless high-torque option.

What Jumps Out
A few things stand out and a lot of it is how it compared to MAC’s previous brushed model. That 65% increase in torque is significant. When you look at all the options out there for leaving the mid-torque class, you’ve got to be near or over the 1000 foot-pounds of torque mark to be in the premium sector these days. The brushless motor gets you there along with a nice jump in runtime to go with it.
Does a brushless motor make a difference or is it just marketing hype? Find out in the article below!
The question that will always remain with these more minor players in the space is the quality of the battery and how deep the cordless lineup is. Now let’s be fair, MAC Tools targets the automotive sector where you don’t need the wide variety of tools you do on the construction side of things. But you still need the battery to run long and strong as well as have a reasonable lifespan.
The positive is that MAC Tools is a Stanley Black & Decker brand benefiting from DeWalt’s battery technology. More than that, it’s interchangeable with DeWalt 20V Max and FlexVolt batteries, opening up a world of possibilities.
Then there’s ergonomics and value to consider as well. Tim Johnson over at Shop Tool Reviews has some of those answers for us. Check out the review below…
