Klein Tools recently introduced two pocket-sized flashlights to illuminate the work area with the Klein Inspection Penlight with Laser and the Klein Flashlight with Worklight.
The inspection penlight features a laser pointer, a glowing ring that’s identifiable in the dark and charges while the light is charging, an IP54 rating, and an aluminum body with cushion grip handle and pocket clip.
The flashlight with work light features a flashlight and broad work light in one, a magnet, a glowing ring like the penlight, an IP67 rating, and an aluminum body with cushion grip handle and pocket clip.
“A primary challenge for many electricians is working in dimly lit or dark conditions. Our new illumination solutions provide electricians with reliable visibility on complex jobs, helping to reduce mistakes caused by lack of brightness or tough environments. The new Inspection Penlight with Laser and Flashlight with Worklight are also easy to identify in dark areas, thanks to a glow ring tip that charges while the light is on so that it’s easier to find in the dark.”

Our Take
Flashlights are critical for electrical work and Klein is continuing the expansion of their lineup. Now, Klein is moving into multi-functional lights and have a couple of winners. It starts with the new Klein Inspection Penlight with Laser. Many electricians are already carrying around a penlight, so this is a natural fit for the trade. The addition of a laser pointer does more than just equip you to lead the next business meeting, though.
When you’re working with someone else, it allows you to quickly point out areas of concern or interest that are out of reach. There’s no substitute for good planning, so ensuring that your crew knows exactly what boxes or runs you’re talking about before they start will make the job more efficient.
More efficient for the individual electrician, the new Klein Flashlight with Worklight is another solid bet. This time, the classic pocket-sized flashlight gets a magnet on its butt end with a side-oriented LED work light. This is great for working on panels and boxes giving you the ability to point the light where you need it and keep both hands free.
Expect the Klein Inspection Penlight with Laser to retail for about $25 and the Flashlight with Worklight to run around $30.
