The Wobblelight Jr. is a great option for lighting up smaller spaces like a single bay garage or shop along with interior office and residential construction job sites.

Overall Score 8.6 (out of 10)

Wobblelight is as popular a name as Kleenex – people often don’t know what the generic term is since the brand is so popular. Wobblelight is so well-known around job sites that several other brands have developed their own versions to meet demand. The Southwire ProBuilt Wobblelight Jr. LED fills a gap where smaller lights are needed.

Pros

  • Smaller profile and lighter weight than the V2 or V3 Wobblelights
  • Lower cost ($279) than the V2 or V3 and similar cordless options
  • Great for smaller garages and shops

Cons

  • No major drawbacks

Recommendations

If consistent access to power isn’t a problem, the Wobblelight Jr. fills the same spaces that all the major cordless options will give you without having to worry about maintaining batteries. It’s a perfect solution for smaller garages, shops, and interior residential/office construction sites.

Field Notes

Design

The Wobblelight Jr. is pretty much a clone of its big brothers with a few minor exceptions. The handle integrates into the thermoplastic lens for one. It also sports a horizontal orientation instead of a vertical alignment along the side housing.

There’s no power switch – once you plug it in, it’s on. There’s also no daisy chaining outlet like you find on the updated V2.

Performance

The Wobblight V3 gives you 75 feet of lighting with its 15,000-lumen output. You’ll get just 9000 with the Wobblight Jr. and a 35-foot range. While that’s quite a bit less, it’s perfect for smaller garages and shops along with interior rooms on residential and office construction sites.

Perspective

Let’s flip over to the cordless market for a moment. DeWalt’s 20V Max area light (DCL070) gives you 7000 lumens with a $349 price tag. Milwaukee matched the Wobblelight Jr. with 9000 lumens on their One-Key model, but it’s going to set you back $599 without the batteries and charger. The version without One-Key and charging is $499.

To be fair, both of those lights have more features to work with and no need for an outlet. Their respective drawbacks are the initial cost and the need to have batteries that will eventually need replacing.

So if simple light output is your biggest concern, the Wobblelight Jr. gets the job done while maintaining a quality build that will stand up to job site and shop conditions. You’ll also save some money with its $279 price.

The Bottom Line

Southwire’s Wobblelight Jr. is a great option for lighting up smaller spaces like a single bay garage or shop along with interior office and residential construction job sites. If you’ve been thinking about going cordless, but don’t really have an issue accessing power, consider saving some money and going this route.
