DeWalt recently introduced the DeWalt ToughBox Job Site Chest for secure and organized tool and accessory storage. It’s made with a 16 gauge steel body, 14 gauge steel floor, and four-way skid access to its 7 gauge steel skids. Reinforcement comes from 11 gauge vertical ribs. It features a reinforced hat for lid stiffness, gas struts for opening and closing, a finger groove, and recessed side handles.
The DeWalt ToughBox Job Site Chest comes in 36-, 42-, 48-, and 60-inch wide sizes. All sizes are 35-inches high, 28-inches deep, and have a 2,500 pound capacity. Security features include recessed lock housing, a stacked and welded full-length piano hinge, and a 3-point locking mechanism. Inside the ToughBox are integrated rails to accommodate DeWalt ToughSystem storage modules (not included). Other notable features include pre-drilled caster holes, a rear rubber grommet electrical pass-through, powder-coat finish, and a limited lifetime warranty.
The Bottom Line
When we saw the DeWalt ToughBox Job Site Chest at the DeWalt Experience, I thought it was just going to be another large capacity piano box, albeit with a heavy duty construction. The ToughSystem integration is an excellent addition. By using the boxes you already have, large tools can be stored in the bottom, smaller tools and accessories can stay organized and live happily above the space below. Soft underlid storage organizers are also available to take advantage of the space there.
From a security standpoint, we really like the recessed lock feature. You can only use a key-style pad lock, but the shank remains inaccessible so no one can get in to cut it off.
