Milwaukee Insulation Knives and Duct Knife Offer Response to Jobsite Needs
Among the new hand tools that we saw in Wisconsin last month were the new Milwaukee Insulation Knives and Milwaukee Duct Knife. For a company that pushes the bar higher every year in the several tool categories, this seemed… almost beneath them. Still, as we listened to the presentation, we discovered that there a few subtle ideas here that make a big difference.
“As we spent time on the jobsite investigating this category, we found that many users were using kitchen knives to cut insulation because they gave the user a longer blade, and the ability to sharpen as needed. Our new user-inspired products give professionals all of the benefits of their current solution, while dramatically improving the quality and durability of a tool that can very quickly get dull blades in this application.”

Milwaukee Insulation Knives
Milwaukee Insulation Knives do look very much like a kitchen or filet knife. This is the exact style that they saw users bringing to the jobsite (hopefully with the blessing of their wives). So what does Milwaukee do? Take what they’re using and make it better of course. They made sure to put a full tang in the handle to avoid the breakthrough that often happens with time and hard use. The handle has been rounded for smoothing applications. They’ve also developed the steel to be maximized for cutting foam, fiberglass, mineral wool, styrene, and foam rubber insulation types.

Milwaukee Duct Knife 48-22-1920
Designed around the needs of the pro HVAC installer, the new Milwaukee Duct Knife shares the full tang design as the Milwaukee Insulation Knives. The double edged blade allows for cutting of duct board, insulation, and flex duct.

Each of the new insulation and duct knives are designed with a lanyard hole in the handle and come with sheaths. They are also backed by Milwaukee’s lifetime warranty. Look for the Milwaukee Insulation Knives and Duct Knife to be available in August.
