The Toro 60V 900 CFM Leaf Blower Pushes The Limits of Cordless Performance
As we see battery-powered OPE improve year after year, many brands are pushing their own limits to try and outperform their previous cordless models. Such is the case for the Toro 60V 900 CFM Leaf Blower, which steps up performance in a big way.

Toro 60V 900 CFM Leaf Blower Performance
- Blowing Force: 14.1 N (high), 20.3 N (turbo)
- Air Speed: 165 mph
- Air Flow: 900 CFM
- Runtime: 14 min 46 sec (high), 9 min 32 sec (turbo)
Blowing Force
Right off the bat, I’m blown away, metaphorically speaking, that Toro is able to pump out up to 900 CFM with a top air speed of 165mph! This translates to 14.1 Newtons of blowing force on high, and 20.3 Newtons with the turbo mode engaged. With that kind of air flow, Toro classifies this as an all-season blower, meaning everything from seasonal leaves and fresh snow are in its wheelhouse.
Toro includes a removable concentrator nozzle for when you encounter more stubborn debris, such as wet leaves and grass.
Runtime
Toro gives us an estimated runtime of 16 minutes on high, and 10 minutes with the turbo mode engaged. Our in-house testing yielded 14 minutes and 46 seconds on high, and 9 minutes and 32 seconds in turbo mode. That’s plenty of trigger time to clear off your driveway and sidewalks after mowing, or remove your seasonal leaves.
If you do drain the battery before the job is complete, never fear. The kitted battery charger can take you from 0 to 100% in right around 50 minutes…more than enough time for a much deserved water break.
Turbo Mode
I’ve already mentioned that this leaf blower has a turbo mode, but Toro’s design team took a pretty unique approach. Toro utilizes a one-tap turbo mode that provides continuously boosted power until the button is pressed again, or the trigger is released. It’s a small detail, but this allows you to switch up your hand position while still maintaining peak power.

Size and Weight
The Toro 60V 900 CFM leaf blower weighs in at 7.1 pounds as a bare tool, 11.9 pounds with the kitted 4.0Ah battery, and measures 35.5 inches from tip to tail. Overall, this blower is extremely well-balanced with the battery in place, and it hangs at a very natural working angle.
Grip and Trigger
Toro designed this blower with a variable speed trigger, cruise control lever, and a one-touch turbo button located on the top of the handle. The controls are ideal for right-handed operation, but the cruise control lever is pretty large, so you can still manipulate it with your left index finger if need be.
The grip on this blower is much larger than we typically see on a handheld leaf blower, and there’s a front pommel for two-handed operation. The larger grip allows for multiple hand positions and greater control when you’re working at peak power for long durations.
Improved Air Flow
When I first unboxed the Toro 51827, I kept looking in the box for more parts because the air intake appeared to be incomplete! What I discovered is that this design in not only intentional, but it’s key to this blower’s performance.
The wide open design allows more air to pass through, making it capable of hitting the 900 CFM mark. To put things in perspective, this blower delivers 49% more power than the Toro 60V 51822 Cordless Leaf Blower that has similar air speed specs.
In addition to the large rear air intake, there are also a few smaller vents on the sides and bottom of the motor housing that let a little extra air flow through.
Additional Features
- Removable air tube for easy storage
- Notched base for vertical storage
- Compatible with all Toro 60V batteries
Toro 60V 900 CFM Leaf Blower Price
The Toro 900 CFM Leaf Blower kit retails for $349.99 and comes with a 4.0Ah battery and charger. Toro backs it with a 3-year limited tool and battery warranty.
The Bottom Line
The Toro 60V 900 CFM Leaf Blower is perfect for homeowners who are wanting to shift away from gas-powered equipment without dropping in performance. It’s a great option for blowing off hard surfaces, such as driveways and sidewalks, as well as moving broadleaves and stubborn debris. Even though it didn’t top the charts on Newton force, the fact that it hit the 900 CFM mark is an impressive achievement for Toro!
