Mow Up to 1/2-Acre With The Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower
The Greenworks 60V line has been the most successful in my opinion. Their original 21-inch mower showed off some great performance specs and offered plenty of benefits for lawn-savvy homeowners. But in today’s booming world of new construction, lawns seem to be getting smaller, and the desire for tried and true push mowers is growing. That’s where the Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower steps in to help!
Pros
- Straightforward design
- Single-point height adjustment
- Two active battery slots
- 4-in-1 mowing capabilities
Cons
- No significant drawbacks
Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower Performance
- Blade Speed: 2800 RPM, 3200 RPM (Turbo)
- Runtime: 45 min.
- Blade Type: Single
Cutting Power
The Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower utilizes a brushless motor that produces a top blade speed of 2,800 RPMs during normal operation, and 3,200 RPMs in turbo mode. This mower is set up for 4-in-1 operation, meaning it bags, mulches, side discharges, and is great for picking up seasonal leaves thanks to the included high-lift blade.
Overall, this mower performed quite well during our testing while bagging and mulching, even in our lush Central Florida grass. The side discharge did leave something to be desired while mower through thicker areas, but it shouldn’t struggle if you’re conducting regular maintenance cuts. If you do need to reclaim your overgrown lawn, I’d suggest kicking it up to turbo mode to help you maintain RPMs and cut quality.
Runtime
Greenworks tells us to expect around 45 minutes of runtime with the kitted 5.0Ah battery, making it ideal for lawns in the 1/4 to 1/2-acre range. This mower is equipped with two active battery slots, so if you need a little extra runtime, just throw in another 60V battery. For added convenience, Greenworks put an onboard battery meter on the handle so you can keep track of your battery life while mowing.
Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower Design Notes
- Model: Greenworks MO60L516
- Power Source: Greenworks 60V battery
- Weight: 59.5 lbs.
- Drive Type: Push
- Deck Material: Steel
Controls
Starting at the top, this is the same control system and handle design that the 21-inch model uses, including the Turbo button, minus the drive controls. Greenworks opts for a pair of paddle-style presence bars that are much easier on your fingers than a metal bar. Additionally, the angled handles offer a very comfortable hand position, and the foam grip adds to the overall comfort level while mowing.
21-Inch Steel Deck
Looking at the deck, not much has changed from a design standpoint, and for good reason! Greenworks is continuing to utilize their stamped steel deck, which adds to its overall durability. This does add a little extra weight compared to a poly deck. However, the larger wheels offer little rolling resistance, even in thick grass.
Deck Height Adjustment
I’m happy to report that this model features a single-point deck height adjustment lever. This makes it extremely easy to make fast and accurate changes on the fly. Greenworks gives you 7 positions to choose from, ranging from about 1.3 inches up to 4 inches, making it ideal for most grass species.
Vertical Storage
One of my favorite design elements of the Greenworks MO60L516 is the easy-fold handle. Rather than having to bend over to the base of the mower to release or adjust the handle, Greenworks now provides two latches toward the top of the side bars. Simply pull the latches up with the fingerholds, move the handle to where you want it, and release. The handle will automatically lock into place. The same mechanism lets you completely fold the handle over for vertical storage.
Additional Features
- LED headlights
- Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries
Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower Price
The Greenworks MO60L516 lawn mower retails for $499.99 as a kit. The kit includes a 5.0Ah battery, charger, a spare high-lift blade, and Greenworks backs it with a 4-year warranty.
The Bottom Line
The Greenworks 60V 21-Inch Push Mower is an impressive battery-powered mower, especially for the price point. It’s very easy to maneuver, and the power is sufficient for typical yard growth, but it may struggle in thicker overgrowth. With that said, if you’re on the hunt for a no-nonsense push mower, Greenworks has you covered!
