Aiper Seagull Pro Pool Vacuum Review

Let the Aiper Robotic Pool Vacuum Handle Your Cleaning Tasks

Having reviewed the Aiper Seagull 1500 pool vacuum we saw at a recent media event, we wanted to check out the latest model when it arrived. The Aiper Seagull Pro robotic pool vacuum takes everything we love about the 1500 and adds even more performance, runtime, and capabilities. It has three vacuum modes that let it concentrate on the bottom, side walls, or everything. With double the runtime of the 1500, it also has enough time to clean your entire pool in one pass.

Aiper Seagull Pro Pool Vacuum Performance

It took only about 90 minutes to charge up the Aiper Seagull Pro pool vacuum (the 1500 took ~8 hours). I then turned it on (Auto mode) and let it gently fall into our inground pool.

The Seagull Pro cleaner sinks slowly to the bottom and then backs up against the wall before starting its cleaning cycle. One thing that became immediately clear—the Aiper Seagull Pro takes a very methodical approach to cleaning. It went back and forth in straight lines until it vacuumed the entire bottom of the 20,000-gallon pool.

Also of note, as the vacuum crossed the pool, it managed to drive over the raised floor drains. While that sounds obviouls—other pool cleaners, including the Aiper 1500, have difficulty with those raised drain covers.

It Climbs Walls!

It then began cleaning the walls using systematic vertical patterns.

The ginormous™ dual PVC rollers each have their own DC motor and the vacuum provides plenty of suction. The large front rollers help it navigate from the flat floor of the pool onto the vertical wall. Once the vacuum hit the surface, it dropped back down to move over and start on the next space.

The Aiper Seagull Pro climbs walls and moves systematically across the surface to clean every bit of your pool.

The Aiper robotic pool vacuum ran for about three hours. I kept checking back, expecting to have to haul it out of the pool using the included hook—but it kept cleaning! Once it finally finished, it rolled up against the pool wall, and I lifted it out with the plastic retrieval hook.

Aiper makes it a simple process to remove and clean the large filter basket. After dumping it in our raised garden bed, I set a garden hose to low pressure and had the filter cleaned in just a few minutes.

The recharging process worked flawlessly. The included charger connected to a gasketed DC input port that I found much easier to deal with than the charger/switch combination of the Seagull 1500. It prevents oxidation while being easy to open up and close.

Aiper Seagull Pro Pool Vacuum Design Notes

The 3-model robotic pool vacuum gives you a nice big dial to power it on and set the mode. Visual cues give away the function. You can either place the vacuum in Auto, floor-only, or sides-only. This lets you target the vac to ensure your pool gets the particular cleaning you want. I found it exceptionally helpful since I occasionally wanted to clean just the pool walls.

The Mode dial also features colors associated with the state of the battery charge:

  • Green: 90% to Fully charged battery
  • Blue: 50–89% battery
  • Yellow: 10–49% battery
  • Red: < 9% battery

The Bottom Line

Owning a pool means you have to vacuum and maintain it. Instead of manual cleaning or using tethered low-pressure or high-pressure vacuums, you can “let the robot do it”.

The Aiper Seagull Pro provides a completely cordless robotic vacuuming system that revolutionizes pool cleaning. Since it operates without much supervision, this pool vac simplifies a major task on my weekly to-do list. I look forward to never having to manually connect a hose or vacuum our pool ever again.

Considering the value of time, I can easily digest the price of the Aiper Seagull Pro. This durable vacuum runs much longer than I ever expected was possible—and it gets the job done.
