We’ve been using FlexiSpot products in our office for several years with excellent results. So when the opportunity came up to get a closer look at the FlexiSpot E5 Pro Standing Deck, we swapped out the standard desk in a law office with this sit-stand model to see if we could make another convert.

Building Your FlexiSpot E5 Pro Standing Desk
When you get started, you have some decisions to make. First of all, you can buy the frame on its own—that’s great if you already have a desktop you want to install or you’re going to make your own. It’s available in white, gray, or black.
If you want FlexiSpot to provide the desktop, there are a range of options to choose from there as well. For the material, there’s chipboard, bamboo, fiberboard, solid wood texture, and solid wood. Each material has multiple color options and a wide range of size options. We’ve listed those along with the pricing near the bottom of our review.
Assembly is easy thanks to good instructions. With a cordless screwdriver
Using the FlexiSpot E5 Pro Standing Desk
Capacity
Once you finish assembling the desk (give yourself 30 minutes to an hour), using the desk is super simple. The full range runs 24.4 to 50 inches, so you should be able to find sitting and standing heights you like, even if you’re very tall. Thanks to wide feet at the base, the desk is stable, even at its highest setting.
The frame uses two motors to lift and lower the frame, making for a smooth adjustment that won’t shake your coffee cup over or knock your phone to the floor. All told, the desk is able to hold up to 287 pounds.
Adjustments
The control panel is on the right side and has six buttons. Up and down have you covered for manual settings. Press the button matching the direction you want the desk to move and releaser when it’s at the best height for you.
Buttons numbered 1 – 3 allow you to set 3 customized heights. For the primary user, we like to use settings 1 and 2 to set the optimal sit and stand heights. To program a preset, adjust to the height you want, press the “M” button, and then press the number you want to lock that height into.
The FlexiSpot E5 sit-stand desk also has a sit-stand reminder alert you can set between 0 and 90 minutes. If you’re new to sit/stand desks, start easy and work your way up. Try 5 to 10 minutes per hour of standing at first, then gradually increase your standing time as your body adjusts.
Additional Highlights
- Anti-collision sensor stops the motors in the event of an obstacle during motion
- Recommended for people with heights from 4 feet, 6 inches to 6 feet, 7 inches tall
