Makita is bringing drywall and interior professionals the option of cutting the cord with the new 18V LXT Cordless Drywall Screwdriver and 18V LXT Cordless Drywall Cutout Tool. Individually, they both look like great options, particularly if you’re already invested in the Makita 18V LXT family. As a combo kit, the pair retails for just $20 more than the cutout tool kit on its own. The 18V LXT Cordless Drywall Screwdriver is also kitted with an impact driver as an option.

One of the most impressive features about the Makita 18V LXT Cordless Drywall Screwdriver is the new Push Drive Setting. Using this setting keeps the tool in a ready state and runs when pressure is applied to the fastener. This way, you don’t have to worry about when to press or release the trigger. Drywall cutout tools aren’t exactly known for being packed with features because they just don’t really need to be. Makita does a nice job by allowing for 1/4″ or 1/8″ bits without needing a wrench for bit changes. There’s a lock on switch so you can focus on making the cut. Vents are intentionally positioned to direct air and dust away from the user.
