ATLANTA, GA – In a surprising move, home improvement giant The Home Depot announced today that it will be branching out into the home rental business.
The new venture, called “Home Depot Homes,” will allow customers to rent fully furnished homes. The homes come complete with all of the latest and greatest home improvement products and appliances. Each home will be designed to showcase the company’s top-of-the-line products. Each also includes features like smart home technology, energy-efficient appliances, and high-end finishes.
“We’re always looking for new ways to help our customers make their homes the best they can be,” said an executive from The Home Depot. “With Home Depot Homes, we can offer a new level of convenience and value that goes beyond just selling products. We’re excited to provide a unique and innovative way for our customers to experience home rentals with everything that The Home Depot has to offer.”
The rental homes will be available in select markets across the country. The company anticipates pricing to compete well with other rental properties in the area. Customers can also choose from a variety of different home styles and sizes, ranging from cozy apartments to sprawling estates.
In addition to providing a unique rental experience, Home Depot Homes will also offer a range of home services and maintenance options. Services will include lawn care, housekeeping, and even streaming DIY workshops and classes.
So far, the announcement has met with a good level of skepticism. “After Zillow exited the home-flipping business in 2021, we saw a great opportunity to expand,” said a spokesman from The Home Depot. “The move into rentals makes for a natural evolution for the company.”
“We’ve always been about providing the tools and resources our customers need to create their ideal homes,” he said. “Now, we intend to take that one step further by actually providing the homes themselves. It’s a bold move, but we believe managing home rentals on a wide scale is the future.”
The first Home Depot Homes rental properties begin in the Atlanta market later this year. The company also has plans to expand into additional markets by Q4 2023.
