There are a couple of new Spyderco folding knives to highlight this month. The first is the C179PBK/C179POR (the BK model is black, and OR is orange). This one has its roots in Denmark where the laws restricting the type of knife you are legally allowed to carry are much stricter. Specifically, you it is illegal to carry any knife that can be opened with one hand. I’m fairly certain that eliminated every knife in my collection!
The Spy-DK is the exact same model as the popular Spyderco Folding UK Penknife, but with the blade length reduced to 2.69 inches to comply with the law. The blade is made from N690CO stainless steel. It features a smaller trademark hole that still identifies it as a Spyderco, but prevents one handed opening methods. The handle is constructed from a lightweight injection molded fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN). The wire deep pocket clip is reversible allowing the user to carry the Spy-DK tip up on either side.
