Delta 18 inch Laser Drill Press Features
The Auto-Tensioning Belt Drive System (which Delta is patenting) is an industry first and allows for fast and easy speed changes while maximizing efficiency with consistent belt tension and motor alignment. A simple chart located inside the hood shows bit speeds for each of the 16 possible belt configurations. Furniture makers, architectural woodworkers, toy makers and machinists alike will find added versatility with a full 6-inch quill stroke that will allow them to drill or mortise through 6-inch by 6-inch lumber. An oversized woodworker’s table provides users with an ideal material support surface for larger material. The table bevels up to 90 degrees left and right and tilts forward up to 48 degrees to give the woodworker the ability to drill compound angles. The table also features t-slots for clamping and a removable center insert for through-table drilling and sanding.
Accuracy is achieved with micro-adjustable depth stops and an independent depth scale, allowing woodworkers to zero the scale and set up for repetitive drilling in a quick and easy manner. A fully adjustable Twinlaser projects a bright red crosshair on the work surface that can be easily fine-tuned and indicates the center point of the bit regardless of table position or thickness of material. The 18-900L also features a heavy-duty 3/4 HP motor that provides power for the most demanding drilling applications. In addition, the unit comes equipped with an LED light with bendable shaft for excellent lighting and positioning, as well as a large non-tip base for stability.
A Biesemeyer fence (model 18-901) is available as an accessory for the drill press to ensure accuracy and repeatability of drilling holes. This high and low profile fence provides the versatility to support tall and thin materials and a quick-adjusting material flip stop offers lateral support of the work piece.
The new Delta 18-900L 18-inch Laser Drill Press is backed by a five-year warranty and is available now at specialty woodworking dealers for a suggested retail price of $829.
