Versatility and Convenience Come Standard with the TANOS MW 1000 Mobile Workshop
The TANOS Mobile Workshop is a robust work platform and integrated storage system. Its convenience is unbelievable once you’re on the platform. TANOS absolutely jam-packed the MW 1000 with helpful features that make it a great solution for a number of on-the-go applications.

TANOS Mobile Workshop Versatility
I seem to find a new feature every time I look at the TANOS mobile workshop. The MW 1000 design completely centers around the user experience. TANOS takes the best form and function and combines both into an easily organized multifunction platform.
This platform is compatible with TANOS’ Systainer toolbox configurations for convenient and secure storage (Festool systainers are also compatible). Why is this important? That function turns the MW 1000 into a Swiss Army tool bench. This portable workbench combines your toolboxes with a strong mobile workspace, effectively letting you work anywhere.
The versatile nature of this mobile workshop is what makes it so attractive. You can pick and choose which Systainer³ and/or T-Loc boxes you want to bring along based on the job.
Setting Up the MDF Multi-Position Top
The detachable work table attaches to all four sides. Similar to the way tongue-and-groove flooring works, the edge of the bench top corresponds with the edge of the trolley top. Even though there’s no clamp, it’s a secure hold—much like a french cleat. Once attached, it doesn’t move at all—not even side-to-side.
On the opposite side of the bench, a fold-out leg takes care of stabilizing your workspace. Among the more subtle features, three adjustable feet aid in keeping your worktop level. Two are on the fold-out leg and there’s a third on the trolley base. This three-legged approach ensures no wobble on the worktop.
The MDF worktop on the TANOS Mobile Workshop has a series of bench dog holes so you don’t have to create your own for clamping. The trolley top also includes slots that match with systainer feet and a V-groove for your round materials.
When the work is complete, simply store the bench neatly on the back. While it seems like the handle will secure the top on its own, it’s a multi-position handle, so you need to secure the top using the included strap.
The MDF top is replaceable should you wear it out or damage it. MDF isn’t water-friendly, so you’re best off transporting the system in a van or enclosed trailer rather than the back of a truck.
Systainer Storage Options
The trolley base has space for a small systainer (like a MINI) underneath standard-width boxes and a T-lock ensures those boxes secure to the base the same way they do to each other.
There’s also an adjustable height sliding drawer that’s helpful for the items you need to access more frequently. Flip out the tabs on either side and you can adjust the height to accommodate taller Systainer³ and T-Loc boxes. That includes the ability to adjust the height of the corner bumpers on the frame as well. Finally, TANOS lets you remove the drawer entirely if you don’t need it on a particular job.
Transporting the TANOS Mobile Workshop
The wheels on this system are wonderfully smooth. The combination of a proper fit, bearing selection, and softer wheels help it roll easily over most surfaces. Note that they’re not large all-terrain wheels, though. This isn’t a system designed to drag across the bare ground the way you might with a portable generator.
There are a few other details that make transport a little easier. The handle aligns with the wheels and allows it to fit flush against a wall. In addition to a handle on the bottom, TANOS added two plastic guards to the handle which help it slide smoothly when you’re loading into a work van.
All told, this Mobile Workstation is easy to move and turn in tight spots, so loading/unloading in your van or trailer isn’t as big of a pain as it can be with other systems.
As a word of warning, TANOS does NOT recommend hanging the MW 1000 by the handle. While the handle is very strong, it’s not designed to bear the weight of the entire assembly.
What It’s Not
It’s important to keep in mind that this is not a replacement for your rolling or semi-permanent workbench. It doesn’t have the size or weight capacity you expect from those benches and cabinets. Instead, you can take the essentials with you in a compact, organized platform, reducing the need for extra sawhorses or folding tables for on-site work.
TANOS Mobile Workshop Price
Expect to pay $799 for the MW 1000 from your local TANOS dealer. That includes the trolley with the adjustable drawer and benchtop. Systainers are sold separately.
The Bottom Line
TANOS targets on-site professionals with their versatile Mobile Workshop, but it’s not for everyone. The MDF tops aren’t weather-friendly, so you want to limit their outside exposure. If most of your work is on the interior after dry-in, this is a wonderfully convenient system to get set up and get your work done without having to drag in sawhorses and plywood separate from your toolboxes.
