Makita AVT Rotary Hammer Drills Preview

Makita has introduced two new 1″ rotary hammers. The HR2611F and HR2621 are part of the AVT (Anti-Vibration Technology) line up of tools. TheMakita AVT Rotary Hammer Drills are both 1″ models and feature a piston counterbalance system and damper spring at the base of the impact bolt that work together to reduce the effect of tool vibration.

Both Makita AVT rotary hammer drills offer 3 modes for use – rotation only, hammer with rotation, or chipping only and users can easily change modes by flipping a recessed hammer-function selector switch. When in hammer with rotation mode, the sequential impact timing feature kicks in to minimize overlapping bit impacts which Makita tells us improves drilling time by up to 50%.

The HR2621 features an ergonomic D-shaped handle and a retractable tool hook. The HR2611F is a pistol grip rotary hammer and includes LED lights at the base of the grip. Both tools are similar in terms of performance, delivering 2.9 Joules of impact energy. The HR2621 comes in a half pound heavier and offering 8 amps compared to the 6.6 pounds and 7 amps of the HR2611F.

I wasn’t able to find the HR2621 available at all, but Amazon will notify you when it becomes available through their site. For more information, visit Makita’s website.
