Makita U.S.A., Inc. let out a stealthy press release this week. The company made an 80-acre land acquisition northeast of Atlanta, Georgia. While we don’t yet know the intended use of the land, Makita clearly looks to be continuing its commitment to future growth in the U.S. market.
What we know so far is that the land, located northeast of Atlanta in Hall County, is targeted for future development to allow Makita to address continuing growth in the United States.
We’re hoping this Makita 80-acre acquisition results in a big new facility. Perhaps one that creates tons of American jobs—but it’s anybody’s guess.
“Business continues to grow, and we are continuing to invest in the future. With the largest cordless lithium-ion tool system in the world, the adaption of our battery-powered products continues to accelerate from power tools to outdoor power equipment and beyond. This planned expansion will further support our customers while creating more jobs in the region.”
Joe Blackwell, senior vice president operations
Over the past three years, Makita has made significant investments in the U.S.A. The Atlanta-area purchase follows the August 2020 opening of a new Makita distribution, training and service facility in Reno, NV. They also had a similar facility open in 2017 in Wilmer, TX.
This Makita 80-acre acquisition only marks the latest in a series of expansions. Makita also has facilities operating in Mt. Prospect, IL; Buford, GA; and La Mirada, CA where the company is based. Additionally, the manufacturing plant in Buford is one of ten Makita manufacturing facilities worldwide.
