Bosch is introducing four new portable dust extraction systems for 2014 designed to meet the rising benchmarks for jobsite dust collection. The main feature of the new Bosch dust extraction systems is the focus on efficient dust collection. Anyone that has ever used a cartridge filter on any kind of suction tool knows that they only work well when that filter is unclogged. And they do get clogged. Fast.
The VAC090S, VAC090A, VAC140S, and VAC140A dust extractors from Bosch deal with this situation with an automatic or semi-automatic filter cleaning systems (the “S” designation in the model number for semi-automatic cleaning, and “A” for automatic) that work to offer best in class air flow measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). With the semi-auto system, a module on the hose allows the user to cut suction and activate reverse airflow filter cleaning with the simple press of a button. The automatic systems use the same reverse flow system to clean the filter every 15 seconds without interrupting progress. Bosch recommends that the self-cleaning systems not be used with HEPA filters due to the more delicate nature of their construction.
Other features worth considering include integrated hose and cord storage, compatibility with the Bosch Click & Go System, as well as water level sensors that automatically shut down the system when liquid levels reach a predetermined level to protect the motor. Available accessories include VX110 extension hose, VX130 floor tool kit, and VF120H HEPA filter that creates an EPA compliant system. A variety of filters and bags are also compatible with the family.
