Makita XPH14 Increases Power, Decreases Size
There’s a new flagship hammer drill from our friends in teal. The Makita XPH14 brushless hammer drill focuses on taking the success of the XPH07 and increasing the torque while making it more compact.
Makita’s Take
“The new 18V LXT Brushless Hammer Driver-Drill is built on the foundation of the industry-leading XPH07. With its combination of power, speed, and run time, this new hammer driver-drill is the ultimate cordless solution for drilling and driving.”

The Big Deal
Looking at the two hammer drills side-by-side, one big change is a jump in power. The XPH07 was impressive at 1090 in-lbs of torque, but Makita adds more than 150 in-lbs more to bring the XPH14 to 1250 in-lbs.
There’s also a significant drop in size. With this update, Makita drops more than an inch off the XPH07’s length and brings the XPH14 down to just 7 inches.
Even with the increase in power, we can see that Makita’s maximum capacity recommendations in wood, steel, and masonry remain the same.
